Governing Body - Supervision and Administration of Trinity Lutheran Preschool
Trinity Lutheran Preschool is a ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church. It is governed by the Trinity Lutheran Preschool Board of Directors, made up of active members of Trinity Lutheran Church. This Board is responsible for insuring the financial well being of the school, policy related matters and in turn answers to the Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Parish Education Committee. The Director and Staff serve under the guidance of this Board. The Director is responsible for seeing that the program of the school is being carried out.
Discipline
The Trinity Lutheran Preschool policy on discipline is designed to aid the child in developing inner control. Discipline is viewed as a process of the child's learning appropriate behaviors. Positive reinforcement for good behavior in our warm supportive environment promotes the child's self-confidence and leads to increased desirable behavior. The child is also challenged with learning and doing new things, thus preventing the discipline problems which may occur form boredom. When corrective discipline is necessary, it will be administered by the teacher in a positive and consistent manner appropriate to the situation. When the child's behavior is unacceptable the teacher will remove him or her from the group, talk with him or her, discuss alternate ways to handle the problem and pray with the child. If the behavior continues the teacher will consult the Director, and they will determine if a parent conference is needed.
Embarrassing or cruel punishments will not be administered. We do not feel it is ever necessary to resort to physical punishment nor sarcasm.
Dress and Dress Code
We believe that a child's work is PLAY, so please send children to school in appropriate "work clothes." It is a good practice for parents to ask themselves "will I be disappointed if this comes home dirty or stained?" If the answer is, "yes," we advise parents to select different attire for school. We suggest clothing that is washable, comfortable, and easy to take off and put on for bathroom purposes.
NOTE: In spite of smocks and washable paints, clothes will get dirty and become stained. Shoes with closed toes and non-skid soles, such as tennis shoes, are safest for climbing and outdoor play. Sandals and boots pose safety problems and are not appropriate for preschool. We go outside often; think of the weather and provide a sweater or jacket every day of the school year.
While Trinity Lutheran Preschool has not presently adopted a formal dress code, we do expect that parents will respect and foster the positive Christian school environment by not dressing children in attire that is patently offensive or may be construed as similarly objectionable to the other students, families, and staff. Parents are advised to use common sense in determining what is appropriate wear for the school environment. As a rule of thumb, if not sure, the clothing in question is probably not suitable attire.
Fundraiser Events Trinity Lutheran Preschool schedules fundraiser events each year: Auctions, Catalogs of Adventures & Events, Little Caesar Pizza sales, and cookbooks with personalized photo covers.
Refunds The one-time REGISTRATION FEE is NON-REFUNDABLE. Trinity Lutheran Preschool operates on a non-profit budget. Tuition is based on actual operating expenses and no refunds are given on monthly tuition because of holidays, vacations, etc. Consideration may be given those students absent due to an extended illness. The Director and Board will make all decisions in this matter. Each child is enrolled for the entire school term, or the balance of the said term if entering mid-year. No credit is given for early withdrawal.
Nutrition and Snacks Children should eat something at home before school (breakfast/lunch)! Snacks are an important part of our day, and are provided by the school. NOTE: We serve no snack foods containing PEANUTS, PEANUT OIL, PEANUT BUTTER, OR PEANUT FLOUR. If your child has an allergy to any food you MUST let us know so it can be noted on the snack list.
Toys Brought from Home We understand that children may wish to bring toys from home to school, particularly for 'KIDS CLUES' and 'SHOW AND TELL' days. It is important to remember that items brought for 'KIDS CLUES' and 'SHOW AND TELL' activities are not played with during class time. It is the responsibility of the parents to help children decide on APPROPRIATE items to bring for school activities.
GUNS OR ANY OTHER WEAPONS (TOY OR OTHERWISE) ARE NOT EVER ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE SCHOOL FOR ANY REASON! We ask for and expect everyone to fully comply with this policy.
